The "laser strikes" were reported by airport traffic controllers at Harrisburg International Airport "coming from an area approximately one mile north of the tower," Highspire police said.
The shining laser pointers were aimed at planes flying overhead, posing "a serious risk to the safety of the aircraft and people on the ground," police wrote in the release.
"This action is not only hazardous but also illegal," they added. "Aiming a laser pointer at aircraft is considered a federal crime, and those responsible can face substantial fines and imprisonment for up to 5 years."
The Highspire Police Department is investigating the incident.
